The Vice President of New Zealand’s University of Auckland visits XJTU
On the afternoon of April 15, Professor Jennifer Dixon, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Strategic Engagement) of New Zealand's University of Auckland, visited XJTU. She was welcomed by XJTU vice president Lu Tianjian.
The two parties met in room 107 of the Science Hall, where they discussed a number of issues of mutual interest, including academic cooperation, joint research and student exchanges. Vice President Lu Tianjian gave a presentation, introduced some of the major disciplines at XJTU, and expressed the wish that two schools might develop a fruitful collaboration and extended a welcome to students from the University of Auckland to study at XJTU.
Professor Xu Feng from the School of Life Sciences presented some of the research currently being conducted at XJTU in the fields of biomedical engineering and biomechanics. He gave particular attention to recent research results in the area of food safety inspection. The two delegations exchanged ideas on the building of a joint research center for "food safety and sustainable food systems" in cooperation with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and they expressed their intention to hold a trilateral academic seminar in this field as soon as possible and to further raise their already substantial level of cooperation.
