Annual meeting of the council of the Confucius Institute of Liverpool University from 2012 to 2013 was held in XJTU

On the afternoon of December 7, the annual meeting of the council of the Confucius Institute of Liverpool University was held at XJTU. The meeting was chaired by XJTU Vice-President Lu Tianjian, who also serves as vice chairman of the council of the Confucius Institute, and by Professor Peter Hoey, the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Liverpool and the current director of the Liverpool Confucius Institute.

The members of the council listened with interest to the report delivered by the Deputy Director of the Institute, Ann Smith, on the Chinese language programs and the various cultural activities organized by the Institute during the year 2012. Director Hoey then described the language-related research conducted by those affiliated with the institute during the course of the year just passed.

The members of the council then reviewed the institute’s budget, as well as its programs, putting forth many beneficial suggestions regarding the program plans for 2013 and the possibilities for further cooperation and exchange between the two universities.

Afterwards, Vice-President Lu Tianjian commented that the cooperation between the two universities would be more extensive and profound. The exchange of more disciplines would promote the cooperation between the two universities to the direction of more academic significance. He raised the proposals on the cooperation between the two universities in many aspects such as teaching, research and talent training.
