The Small Plum Troupe of XJTU’S School of Drama performs in Australia
On the evening of December 2, the auditorium of the celebrated Sydney Conservatorium of Music came alive with performances of the Shaanxi Traditional Opera Institute and the Small Plum Qin Opera Troupe of the XJTU School of Drama, giving Australians a taste of the charm of Chinese traditional culture. This was the first time for the Shaanxi Traditional Opera Institute and the XJTU School of Drama to participate in a cultural exchange performance. The occasion was the "Year of Chinese Culture in Australia 2011-2012," one of a series of events celebrating the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Sino-Australian relationship. The performances, which included excerpts from the operas "Peach Flower in March", "Beating Jiaozan" and "Junction of Three Roads," won warm applause from those in attendance, including the cultural consul of Chinese General Consulate to Sydney Zhai Deyu, Professor Anna Reid, Associate Dean of Learning and Teaching at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and various experts and scholars in the field of Australian music and drama.
