On the afternoon of October 26, a 22-member delegation of Russian university leaders organized by the International Cooperation Bureau of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science visited XJTU. Vice president Lu Tianjian met with the visiting guests in room 107 of the Science Hall. The two parties talked and exchanged ideas, with particular attention to cooperation between the two universities.

Vice President Lu Tianjian welcomed the delegation to XJTU, and gave them a brief introduction to the history and development of XJTU, and particularly, to its international cooperation and exchange programs. The leader of the Russian delegation in turn presented the basic conditions and scientific strength on behalf of each university, and expressed on behalf of all the members, their wish to build cooperative relationships with XJTU. He said he hoped that their visit would help to promote future exchanges at all levels, and lead to substantial cooperation in research as well. Vice President Lu Tianjian stated that the cooperation between the Chinese universities and the Russian universities could take many forms and could contribute to increasing understanding, exchange and friendship between and among the young people of the two countries.

After the meeting, the members of the Russian delegation visited XJTU's Moving West Museum and the Engineering Workshop.
