Delegation from Arizona State University visits XJTU
On the afternoon of September14, XJTU received two visitors from Arizona State University (ASU): Denis Fred Simon, Vice Provost for China Initiatives and Strategy, and Professor Mitzi M. Montoya, Vice Provost and Dean of the College of Technology &Innovation. They were welcomed by Vice President Cheng Guangxu.
Each of the parties gave slide show presentations to provide their counterparts with an overview of their respective universities. Professor Montoya also used her presentation to report on the status of the new joint "3+2" academic degree program, under which a select group of students will study for two years at ASU's College of Technology &Innovation (CTI) and for three years at one of the member Chinese universities. At the end, the study courses will be credited at the participating Chinese university. The program is mainly oriented toward students in fields such as alternative energy resource technology, enterprise agriculture and environment technology management.
Vice President Cheng Guangxu expressed enthusiastic support for the program and said he hoped that the two parties would work well together to ensure the success of the program.
Later, the leaders of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange and the Teaching Affairs Office met with the heads of the two delegations, and the two parties agreed to sign a cooperation agreement in the future based on the talk.
