High-level XJTU delegation visits European Universities

From February 7 to February 17, an XJTU delegation led by President Zheng Nanning and Vice President Cheng Guangxu visited six leading European universities in Great Britain, Germany and Italy and made a series of important steps in reinforcing XJTU's relationship with European universities.

On February 8, President Zheng Nanning and his party visited Liverpool University, where they met with Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Howard Newby CBE.

On February 10, the delegation traveled to Scotland to visit the University of Glasgow. They were welcomed by Senior Vice-Principal &Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Andrea Nolan who expressed warm appreciation for the ongoing academic cooperation between the two schools and specially for their extensive cooperation on CSC (China Scholarship Council).

The following day, President Zheng and his party visited Cambridge University's Trinity College, and on the 13th, they journeyed to Munich to visit the Munich Institute of Technology and meet with (First) Vice-President Professor Meng Liqiu and the deans of several related schools.

From February 14 to February 15, President Zheng and his party visited the Berlin Institute of Technology where they met with Professor Frank Behrendt the holder of the Chair for Energy Process Engineering and Conversion Technologies for Renewable Energies and with Prof Rainer Stark of the Department of Industrial Information Technology and toured the university's laboratories. On February 16, Vice President Cheng Guangxu visited Italy's Politecnico di Milano, as President Zheng's personal representative.

During the course of the trip, President Zheng Nanning and Vice President Cheng Guangxu also met with a number of China's diplomatic representatives in that area, including the consul of Chinese Consulate General's office in Manchester, Mr. Fu Hengsheng, the general consul to Munich, Mr. Wang Shunqing, the special counsel for education at the Chinese Embassy in Berlin, Mr. Jiang Feng and the consul of the Chinese Consulate General in Milan, Mr. Zhao Xiangdong.
