On the morning of December 5, the president of Canada's University of Ottawa, Professor Allan Rock, visited XJTU. In a meeting in room 201 of the Science Hall, Party Secretary Wang Jianhua welcomed President Rock and his party and gave them a brief introduction to XJTU. President Rock thanked XJTU for its warm reception, and expressed confidence that the University of Ottawa would be sending excellent groups of faculty members and students to study and otherwise exchange ideas at XJTU.

Following the meeting and discussion, Party Secretary Wang and President Rock signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the two universities, which stipulated that they would strengthen their cooperation and expand mutual exchanges of students, faculty members, and researchers. At the end of the meeting, the two parties exchanged gifts.
