On the morning of October 17, Mr. Peter van Bladeren the Director of the Nestle Research Center visited XJTU. He was met by President Zheng Nanning in room 107 of the Science Hall.

President Zheng welcomed Mr. van Bladeren to XJTU, and said that he enthusiastically supported the new joint laboratory that has recently been set up by the Nestle Research Center in cooperation with XJTU's School of Life Science &Technology to do research in the field of metabolic health. He added that he hoped the two parties could further expand their collaboration in this area.

Mr. van Bladeren then presented a brief outline of Nestle's current activities to President Zheng, thanked him for supporting the joint laboratory and said he hoped that the two institutions might continue to collaborate in the fields of nutrition and health.
