From February 26 to February 28, an 8-member delegation from Taiwan's Yangming University, led by that university's recently installed President Liang Gengyi, paid an official visit to XJTU.

During the visit, the delegation met with XJTU party secretary Wang Jianhua in room 107 of the Science Hall. Secretary Wang welcomed President Liang and the other members of the delegation, and gave them a brief presentation on recent developments at XJTU. He spoke highly of the excellent cooperation between Taiwan Yangming University and the XJTU School of Medicine. He said he hoped that the two universities could continue to develop and strengthen their intensive cooperation in the field of medicine. Also attending the meeting were the honorary president of the School of Medicine, academician Zhang Xinshi, presidential assistant Yan Hong and the director of the Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs, Ms. Liang Li.

On the afternoon of February 28, President Liang Gengyi and his party visited the Second Hospital. Also, in the company of Vice President Yan Jianqun and Presidential Assistant Yan Hong, they toured the School of Medicine and the School of Life Sciences, where they met with a number of members of the faculty and staff.
